Sandi Sieger founded The Melbourne Writers’ Club in January 2011. The Melbourne Writers’ Club is open to anyone — no matter what type or style of writer you are, no matter where you work, no matter how much (or how little) you write, no matter your experience.
Aim: An engaging, supportive place for writers to gather, enjoy a meal and a glass of wine, network, share ideas and stories and keep up to date with industry news.
Date: The first Monday of each month.
Venue: Arbory Bar & Eatery, Flinders Walk, Melbourne.

Hi Sandi, just after more details! It sounds like fun =)
Sorry! Forgot to put my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Have sent you an email.
Has the venue and time been selected for the next club meeting?
Yes, it will always be on the first Monday of each month (next meet up is on March 7th) at Honey in South Melbourne (upstairs).
I would like to know more about the writers group please like what level writers are at and if anyone can join etc
Anyone is welcome along – any form of writer at any stage/level.
This sounds good – I’m guessing it is on tonight ?
About what time will it run til ?
Great to meet you. Hope to see you again at the next Writers’ Club!
Hi Sandi, just after some more info too – would you mind emailing me at email@example.com? I’m a journo and wondered if the meet ups are for fiction writers or journos as well…cheers!
This is a bit off brief but perhaps you might be able to help me? I am new to Melbourne and would like to take a creative writing course. Something a bit more relaxed, along the lines of pointing me in the right direction rather than an intensive short course with the promise of a book and film deal at the end of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks Niall
I’ll be back in touch soon with some info for you. Hope you are enjoying Melbourne so far.
I’m a uni student and I love writing – but I wouldn’t know anyone at the Melbourne Writers’ Club.
Can I come anyway? Here is my email if you’d be able to send me some info 🙂 firstname.lastname@example.org
Great to meet you last night Amy. See you next month!
Thanks for making me feel so welcome! I’m really looking forward to next month.
Hello! Thank you for being a part of our The Hillscene magazine! Adriana and I would love to come in for one of your meetings. When is your next one (early Feb?). My email address is rachel@swiftsupport,.com.au. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for featuring me. Our next one will be on February 6th at Honey in South Melbourne. Will add you to the email list x
Hey Sandy, I was interested in coming along to the writers’ group. Am I permitted? 🙂 My email is email@example.com
Have email you, thanks Fel.
I was recently recommended to get in touch with you by a member of your club (Louisa Deasey). I am a photographic artist looking to collaborate with writers on a fun new photo-literary concept I’ve titled ‘Picture 1000 Words’ (see link below for more info).
I think this project will directly interest yourself and members of your group (I’m really not trying to spam you!) and I’m currently trying to get the word out to as many writers as I can. I’d love to get your thoughts on the project. Perhaps I could come to one of your meetings to chat about it?
Thanks for getting in touch. The project sounds great and I will email you back now.
Good Day Sandi,
I would be interested in joining in the Writers Club. Can you please confirm venue and times if the club is still going.
Certainly – our next meet up is Monday the 5th of March from 6pm at Honey in South Melbourne. Hope to see you then!
I’d like to set up something similar in Dublin — would it be possible to pick your brain a little?
Absolutely. Would you prefer to email me?
Happy to help, you can find my email address on the ‘a note on Sandi’ page.
Great! Will do, thanks.
I’m trying to translate my book into English; it has turned into a nightmare! Seems like the most elegant phrases and paragraphs would lose their sense when they are transferred to another language by a non-native. I was seeking for help with my writing in Melbourne when I came across this page. I was wondering if this is still going on. And if not, would you mind guiding me where to get help? Thanks a lot.
I would like to become a member- please advise.
There’s no need to become a member – you’re more than welcome to just turn up to our meet ups. Hope to see you next month. You can follow our Facebook or Twitter Pages for updates.
Hey hey, just found this group and am a bit devo that I missed the meeting last week, but I’m looking forward to coming along next month, I was a part of a writers’ club at uni in Adelaide but when I moved here in July I lost contact with them which sucked because I had a really good time and found being around other writers really got the creative juices flowing
I’ll definitely be at the next meeting.
Look forward to seeing you at the next one, Taco. It’s on December 3rd! See you then.
Greetings Sandi, I’m Tristen.
I moved here from London, England. I had a very tight writers group over there and I’ve been here almost a year now and would love to meet other writers. I’ve written three novels and a stack of short stories, music and film reviews over the years. I would totally love to be involved if there is room. I hope to hear back from you when you’ve got time.
As per our discussion on Facebook – see you in February!
I found your Blog and the club as I was searching for something just like it! So glad you’ve put this together. Wish I knew about it earlier. Sounds like such a great idea. How do I become a part of this? My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking forward to starting in the New Year! 🙂
Kind Regards, Phoebe Kuhn
We kick off again in February – you just turn up! Give us a follow on Twitter or our Facebook Page to stay up to date with the latest news. Looking forward to meeting you in Feb.
